Well it's definitely spring now. I can tell because my legs are tired from biking all the time. :-) Mirs is in Running Club at school now and can now run rings around me and do laps up and down the stairs much faster than I can. Oh and in swimming lessons she's graduated to Fish! Kris isn't getting around as fast though, she hurt her leg working our or something and has been having an interesting time getting up and down stairs and stuff.
Yesterday biking to work I saw some kind of hawk attacking a cute little tiny baby bunny out by the side of the transitway. The little bunny was squealing bloody murder. The hawk flew away as I passed and the bunny looked relieved -- then in my rearview mirror I could see the hawk coming back down to finish the job. Nature is fairly cold and cruel sometimes, we all know it but still most of the time we'd rather pretend we didn't. There's no 'why' to these things, some things just 'are' because it's the way things unfold. And who am I to judge what a bird eats for breakfast, I ate bird meat for lunch that day!
Some things never change. The same stout Hmong lady has been selling the same hot dogs from the same hot dog wagon on the same corner on Nicollet Mall downtown since I first worked downtown 14 years ago. Some things do change: the hot dogs are now $2.50 instead of $1.50.
