Just a quick astro-alert for anybody who wants to see an easy naked-eye comet. Comet Holmes within the last couple of days brightened suddenly from being more or less invisible to being clearly visible with the naked eye.
It's high in the northeastern sky right now in the constellation Perseus, and appears to the naked eye pretty much the same as the stars in that constellation -- but if you look at it with binoculars it is clearly not a star and looks like a tiny ball of fuzz.
You should be able to see it for several nights. I can see it easily from my brightly-lit backyard in Saint Paul even with the full moon out. You can read about it here.
