Conjunction Junction


Tonight in the sky was a rare treat, after sunset a rare grouping of the 3 brightest naked-eye objects (after the Sun) all huddled together low in the southwestern sky: a young crescent Moon, with Venus (bottom center) and Juper (upper right).

The upper photo is overexposed, to show the Moon's dark side -- which is visible because it is lit up by what appears, from the Moon's vantage point, to be a nearly full Earth shining down from the sky.  The photo below is a bit more true to visible reality.

Hey I totally saw that the other night! I had no idea it was Venus and Jupiter, though -- soooo cool. Thanks for the heads-up Paul!

about it - on channel 13.
