Now it really feels like summer. We went down to the Farmer's Market downtown and the eggroll ladies are back, and that's half the reason we go there (well, pretty much 100% the reason Mira wants to go there) so we got some. Then we spend $30 on flowers and stuff and went home because we had run out of money.
It's also that time of year, we've started making occasional runs to Nelson Cheese and Deli for ice cream cones -- it's just a mile from our house on Como and I have to bike past it every day so temptation is always staring me in the face. It's a lot better than DQ - The Tin Roof Sundae ice cream is dynamite. The deli is related to the same Nelson Cheese Factory back home that we would take field trips to in elementary school (it was much more enjoyable than the field trip to the sewage treatment plant) - it's like having my own little piece of Western Wisconsin just up the street in St. Paul.
Last night we went out with the Randy and Rosalyn, our neighbors across the street down at Schroeder's Bar & Restaurant -- it's this nice little family restaurant just down the street from our house -- the kids got their own booth so they had a good time sharing a pizza. R&R have been our neighbors for about ten years I think, we have a lot of fun together -- they're about our age, they have kids about the same age as Mirs, and they're not Amway representatives or anything scary like that.
Besides riding their bikes around and playing frisbee and stuff, Mira and Sam (R&R's son) are now into having little chess matches in the front yard now with our old Flintstones chess set. They taught the kids chess at school and now they're into it -- Mirs is playing it against Kris, against me, against the computer etc. I wonder how long this kick will last.
