Singing Bicycle Man

The singing bicycle man went walking up and down the street one afternoon this week, loudly reciting something from a thick black book. I couldn't even tell you what he was reciting because he was speaking in a language that I didn't even recognize. Possibly some central European or slavic variant but I don't really know.

He's an older fellow -- we call him the singing bicycle man because, well, he sings on his bicycle -- not sure even exactly what he's singing maybe some foreign operetta or something, all I know is he likes to sing. He's a very interesting character.

It's been windy the last couple of days and we started hearing loud popping noises coming from the alley behind the house. Our new neighbor Carlos suggested that it might have been the power lines, and that suspicion was verified today when we actually saw sparking and popping coming from the wires, which were worn and making contact with each other whenever the wind blew hard enough. So Kris called the power company and hopefully that's over with. I don't wanna get zotz'd while puttering around out by the garage.

So this week I got some more modifications done on my big blue telescope, changed the oil on the Nissan, put new piston rings on the moped, put up curtain rods in the back porch and painted a small bare spot on the upstairs ceiling. So I may not have a job but I'm still feeling reasonably productive and still not short of little odds and ends that have to be taken care of.

Speaking of jobs, well I know I'm not getting one of the jobs I interviewed for last week, and enough 'quiet' time has elapsed that I'm not terribly confident about the other one anymore either. Which is a bit of a shame because while it may not quite have been the *perfect* position it would have been the perfect work environment. Soooooo back to the ol' drawing board. I've got a couple new applications in already and we'll see what else comes up.
